Dr. Patrick Lam

Dr. Patrick Lam is a medicinal chemistry and drug discovery consultant. He currently collaborates with Blumberg scientists in terms of drug discovery and jointly supervises Blumberg chemistry postdocs and visiting scientists and also has 30 years of extensive experience in innovation in structure-based drug design, ADME, focused libraries, molecular recognition and nucleic acid therapeutics to deliver biopharma clinical candidates with novel profiles. He is responsible for the discovery of a total eight clinical candidates. Dr. Lam was the group leader and co-inventor for novel Factor Xa anticoagulant which recently launched on the market. Eliquis was chosen as the “Best New Medicine of 2012” by Med Ad News. He and his team were awarded 2015 American Chemical Society Heroes of Chemistry Award for the discovery of Eliquis.

Dr. Toyonobu Usuki obtained his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.

Dr. Toyonobu Usuki obtained his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry under the supervision of Professor Masahiro Hirama and Professor Masayuki Inoue from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 2000, 2002, and 2005, respectively. After postdoctoral studies in the laboratory of Professor Koji Nakanishi at the Department of Chemistry, Columbia University, New York, USA, from 2005 to 2007 as a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow for Research Abroad, he joined the Department of Materials and Life Sciences, Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan, as an Assistant Professor (Principal Investigator) in 2008. Since 2013, he is an Associate Professor at the same university. His research interests include natural products chemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and bioorganic chemistry.

Dr. Jung-Hsin Lin

Dr. Jung-Hsin Lin was born in Taipei in 1968. He received his B. Sc. and M. Sc. in Physics at Department of Physics, National Taiwan University (NTU), and Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat.) in Biophysics at Institut für Festkörperforschung (Institute of Condensed Matter Research), Forschungszentrum Jülich (Research Center Jülich), Germany, under the supervision of Dr. Artur Baumgaertner.Prof. Lin is a member of American Chemical Society, U.S. Biophysical Society, and Taiwan Biophysical Society. He frequently gave seminars and sometimes plenary lectures in international conferences. He serves as reviewers for more than 30 scientific journals, and he is currently serving in the Editorial Board of Advances in Physics X. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Thematic Center for Biomedical Applications of RCAS since January, 2015.

Dr Partha Sarathi Das

Dr Partha Sarathi Das, having his Post Doctoral degree and experiences from reputed institutions like Harvard University, USA, Tohoku University, Japan and RWTH-Aachen,Germany, started his career as Senior Scientist at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories,Hyderabad. He had more than 10 years of industry experience before joining as Senior Scientist at Integrative Medicine Centre of (CSIR) at Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Partha Sarathi Das has been chosen to receive the prestigious CRSI Bronze Medal for his incomparable research contribution in the field of Chemistry by Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI).

Dr. Massoud Kaykhaii

Dr. Massoud Kaykhaii is a professor of analytical chemistry at the University of Sistan and Baluchestan (Zahedan, Iran) since 1989. His research work is focused on modern sample preparation techniques including µ-solid phase extraction, solid phase microextraction, liquid phase microextraction and stir bar sorptive extraction. He has published ca. 85 research articles; presented ca. 120 seminars/conferences; authored two textbooks, and (co)supervised more than 100 MSc and PhD thesis. He is secretary of three national mirror committees of ISO/TC and member of editorial advisory board of 48 journals. He finished 25 industrial projects and has been counsellor in 10 companies in Iran. In 2017 he awarded the best researcher of the University of Sistan and Baluchestan.

Dr. Rakeshwar

Dr. Rakeshwar has more than 80 papers including patents and book chapters published/accepted in various International Journals. Notably, in the area of Organic Chemistry, Dr. Rakeshwar has coauthored a chapter in the book entitled “Green Chemistry in Pharmaceutical industry”.
He has won the various awards in his career e.g. Chairman Excellence Award in the category of individual functional excellence, Best Cost Leadership Award for the development of Lopinavir, Ritonavir & their components and Anveshan Award at Dr. Reddy’s. As a part of organizational building efforts, he also supervises master’s & Ph.D. students in their dissertations..
